The days are getting colder, I have been running out of ideas on what to make for warm wether so thank goodness! I have dragged out my crock pot and Chili is on the menu this week. I have all my other toppings ready and My chili recipe is a dump and leave it so the only thing left to do is make this super simple one bowl corn bread!

There is nothing better than warm Corn Bread with some melted butter dipped in you chili. Just that one mouth full brings back childhood and home cooked meals being devoured around the kitchen table. Classic Corn Bread

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 Cups Flour
  • 1 Cup Cornmeal
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Slat
  • 1/2 Cup Butter
  • 1/2 Cup Oil
  • 1 1/4 Cup Milk
  • 3 Eggs

Instructions

  1. Preheat your Oven to 350 degrees and oil a large cast iron skillet to a 9X13 pan
  2. Whisk together Flour, Cornmeal, Sugar, Baking powder, and Salt. Set aside
  3. In another large bowl whisk together Butter, Oil, Milk, and Eggs
  4. Fold Flour mixture into Egg mixture until just incorporated
  5. Pour into prepared pan 
  6. Bake for 35-45 min, until inverted tooth pick comes out clean

Serve with butter, honey, and your favorite Chili Recipe!

 

Notes

*found yourself with no milk? Substitute the milk for 

  • Cook Time: 40 min.
